Bali Water Tank Project

In December 2019, Julia Parini from the Rotary Club of Seaford was holidaying in Bali, and decided she would like to meet some local Rotarians. Julia visited the Rotary Club of Bali Ubud Sunset, and is joined in this image by Kartika Dewi (left) and Brian Goldman (right). Our club supported a local project to teach ladies sewing skills, and donated some sewing machines.

We recently received a request to support a new project involving the provision of water tanks to remote communities in Seraya Barat, in a mountainous region in Bali's south east. Water resources in these mountains are very limited to a few natural springs. Some bore wells have been drilled, but this is a very expensive process for poor communities. Seraya Barat has 200 families divided into 8 groups, each with 25 families, which have to take turns to access the limited water supplies, only getting access every 25 days. The best solution was to take advantage of the rain during the wet season by installing water tanks. At only AU$175 each including installation, the Bali Ubud club reached out to our club for assistance. Our club decided to support the installation of 6 tanks.
