Onkaparinga Seaside Walk

The Onkaparinga Seaside Walk for Suicide Prevention was first conducted by the Rotary Club of Seaford on World Suicide Prevention Day in 2017 raising $7,000 for suicide prevention initiatives. The event was repeated in 2018 and 2019, raising many more thousands of dollars for the cause.

Proceeds have been used to fund a study by Dr. Angela Nicholas into Suicide Prevention through Australian Rotary Health. A presentation by Angela of her findings was given to the club in 2019, and the recording is below. Other funds have been used to sponsor Mental Health First Aid training courses.

Unfortunately the event had to be cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, but plans are well under way to run this successful and important event on Sunday, October 17, 2021

Coolock House

Supporting Victims of Domestic Violence

The Rotary Club of Seaford is collecting donations of goods for Coolock House which is a homelessness service for young women and their children.
Many of the young families that they work with are homeless as a result of Family and Domestic Violence, but as they work with quite young women, their support extends beyond housing and safety to include learning parenting skills, independent living skills, etc., Coolock House is quite different to most DV services and often receives referrals from other DV services. They also work with young women and children who have become homeless for reasons other than Family and Domestic Violence.

Donations can be dropped in to Coles on Beach Road at Christies Beach or Harcourts Real Estate South Coast, or call Denise on 0449 040 254. Please refer to the "Wish List" below.
