Seaford Meadows Railway Station Redevelopment

In 2018 our club formed a partnership with the rail corridor maintenance team at the SA Department for Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) to redevelop a section of the Seaford Meadows Railway Station. Our members decided we wanted to build an attraction garden, specifically to attract native species of butterflies, but also bees, birds and bugs. Our club engaged Rotarian Michael Moore, one of Australia's most highly respected lepidopterists. Michael worked with DPTI landscapers to prepare a planting and landscaping plan.

Fast forward to 2020, the site had been landscaped, a beautiful wall mural had been painted on the lift well, and the planting was ready to proceed. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and everything was put on hold. Fortunately here in South Australia, we were able to start winding back restriction and a team of volunteers were able to complete our first planting day.
